Have you ever wondered how well is your system being utilized throughout a long stretch of application runs? Or have you ever wondered how to pinpoint a reason why the slowest node in your system performs badly compared to other nodes? State of the art performance analyzing tools, which allow users to collect performance data for longer runs, do not always give a user a great detail of performance metrics. On the other hand, reusing performance analyzing tools suitable for analyzing application behavior for system analysis will overwhelm the user with huge amount of detailed or fine-grained data. We introduce Platform Profiler, which provides adequate amount of data that is enough for a user to detect if there is any problem with system configuration, or if there is any pressure on specific system components that cause performance bottlenecks. We will present several use cases showcasing how Platform Profiler can be useful in understanding how a system is being utilized and identifying a performance issue if any.
